Stop being tech support. Start being a family again.

We provide a premium Apple iPad, a local specialist for an hour of in-home setup, and ongoing support. Starting at just $59/mo.

You want to talk to her. She wants to see you. Tech is getting in the way.

You’re busy with work and kids; you don't want your weekly catch-up to be spent shouting "I can't hear you!" while you try to guide her through unmuting a microphone she didn't know she turned off.We deliver, set up, and teach your loved ones how to stay connected using technology in the Greater Ottawa Area, including Nepean, Kanata, and Orleans.

How it works

1. Choose your plan

Select the Standard plan for homes with reliable Wi-Fi, or Premier for unlimited cellular connectivity. All plans include an Apple iPad on the latest iPadOS.

2. Let us do the work

We will pre-configure all hardware ahead of time, so it's ready the moment we walk through the door - there's nothing else you need to do!

3. The Handover

A vetted, local specialist arrives at your loved one’s home for a structured session. Our 60-minute "Handover" is designed to build confidence without the overwhelm. We spend the first 15 minutes optimizing the technical setup, 30 minutes on hands-on training, and the final 15 minutes on a "Victory Call" to you.

Arrival

0-15 minutes

The first fifteen minutes of the visit are dedicated to finding a suitable location for the device. Our specialists check for WiFi and cellular signal strength, testing the connection in the specific spot where your loved one usually sits.

Confidence Session

15–45 Minutes

The next thirty minutes focus on a hands-on learning period. Our technician teaches the senior how to use the tablet, making sure everything is understood and explained.

Victory Call

45–60 Minutes

Finally, the senior initiates their first successful connection with a family member via video chat. After a final Q&A, the specialist departs, leaving your family officially connected.

Need more time? While our sessions are designed for maximum retention, we also offer "Refresh" visits to help your loved one master new apps and features at their own pace.

FAQ

  • Who exactly is coming into my parent's home? Every Handover Specialist is a vetted, local professional. We conduct rigorous background checks, including a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC), and all our technicians are fully insured.

  • How do you handle privacy and passwords? We follow a "Privacy-First" protocol. We never store your family’s passwords or personal data on our own devices. During the visit, we will help set up biometric logins (like FaceID) or physical "Quick-Cards" so they stay secure without needing to memorize complex strings of text.

  • Are you insured for in-home visits? Yes. The Handover Co. carries comprehensive general liability insurance specifically tailored for in-home technical services. We treat your parent’s home with the same respect we give our own.

  • What happens if the Wi-Fi isn't working when you arrive? Our specialists are trained to troubleshoot basic network issues. If we find that the hardware or signal is insufficient for a high-quality video call, we’ll consult with you immediately to discuss options.

  • What if my parent forgets how to use it the next day? Every Handover includes a physical, large-print "Cheat Sheet" customized to their specific device. If they still have trouble, our support line is available for them to call, or we can schedule a 15-minute video call at no extra charge.

  • Do I need to be there for the visit? You are more than welcome to join (either in person or via the device itself once it's live!), but it is not required. Many of our clients find it easier to let us handle the "teacher" role, allowing you to simply enjoy the first successful call once we leave.

  • Which areas do you serve? The Handover Co. is proud to be a local business serving the Greater Ottawa Area, specifically Nepean, Kanata, and Orleans. If you are outside these areas, join our waitlist and we will notify you as we expand our service zones.

Give the gift of connection, without the headache.

We are currently rolling out our service in select cities. Join the waitlist today and we'll waive the $150 initial setup fee.
